Our Data Approach

WorldDataLive does not treat every number as a permanent fact. International datasets can be revised, updated, backfilled or corrected by their original publishers. We therefore aim to preserve source attribution and process data in a way that makes updates understandable and reproducible.

Different indicators can have different reference years and update schedules. A population estimate, for example, may not represent the same reference period as a GDP or tourism statistic. Users should therefore review the indicator year and source information when making comparisons.

Primary Data Sources

  • World Bank: economic, demographic and development indicators.
  • Open-Meteo: weather and meteorological information.
  • UN and international education datasets: selected education indicators where available.
  • International tourism datasets: tourism-related statistics from identified source providers.
  • Conflict and geopolitical datasets: information from identified specialist sources, subject to their definitions and update schedules.

Who is WorldDataLive for?

The platform is intended for students, researchers, journalists, developers, analysts, travellers, educators and anyone interested in understanding global data.

WorldDataLive is an informational data platform. It should not be treated as a substitute for professional financial, legal, medical, security or other specialist advice.

Accuracy, Revisions and Limitations

We aim to provide reliable and clearly sourced information, but no global dataset is completely free from limitations. Source organizations may revise historical values, change methodologies or publish updated estimates. Some countries may also have incomplete or delayed reporting.

If you identify an apparent error, outdated value or source issue, please contact us with the relevant page, indicator and supporting information.
